Sleigh Rides (December thru Feb)

If there is not enough snow for sleigh runners, we still do rides with wheels on the sleigh instead of runners. 

'Tis the season for winter fun! Call to book a private sleigh ride for your company's winter party, your family Christmas, a cozy cutter ride for 2 or scroll down to book an individual open ride. Bundle up for a ride through the woods and along the Root River creating a memorable experience. Campfire, hot cocoa/cider, tea and s'mores option available upon request. 
We provide quilts to sit on and put on your laps and snuggly bunnies to hold.

Cancellation Policy: *Equine Activities*
You have up to 7 days in advance to make changes to your reservation or to reschedule your reservation.
If cancellation is less than 7 days, no refund is issued. 

Any cancellations made by Ironwood Springs due to temperature, ice or minimum requirement will be refunded or can be rescheduled. 
Open Rides are subject to cancellation if less than 4 people have reserved, temperatures have fallen below zero (including wind chill) or icy conditions.

Private Sleigh Rides -Booking the entire 16 passenger sleigh 


What is it: a ride for your family, friends, co workers or special event

How many can ride: maximum of 16 people at a time but can accommodate 32 in one hour.

How long is the ride: approximately 55 minutes. Can give 2 - 25 minute rides if more than 16 people.

When can we ride: Saturdays at 1:00, 2:30 and 4 or by appt.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your ride and park above Castner Riding Arena.

Cost:

  • $250 - Daytime rides (4:00pm or earlier) Monday through Saturday
  • $325 - Evening rides (5:00pm. or later) Monday through Saturday

Open Sleigh Rides (Pay Per Person)



What is it: a shared ride for anyone! Anyone can book below on the calendar for an open ride!

How many can ride: maximum of 16 people at a time. You will be riding with the general public

How long is the ride: approximately 55 minutes.


When can we ride: EVERY Saturday at 11:00am or when marked on the calendar below

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your ride and park above Castner Riding Arena.

Cost:

  • $15 per person (children 3 and under free, do not add them to the reservation).

Cutter Sleigh Rides (2 person max)

 


What is it: A romantic one horse open sleigh ride  that lasts 30 minutes.

How many can ride: maximum 2 people


How long is the ride: approximately 30 minutes.

When can we ride: Weekdays and limited Saturday times. Daytime cutter rides only.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your ride and park above Castner Riding Arena.

Sleigh Ride Booking Schedule

Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides (All Ages)

Call to book a wagon ride for your vacation or family reunion or just a fun day activity. Our wagon can hold up to 16 people. A quaint 55 minute ride through the woods and along the Root River is a memorable experience. This is a great option for those a little more timid with horses or too young for our trail rides. Gift certificates available. Check under Support>Purchase Gift Cards.


Cost:

Liability Release Form must be signed for all horse related activities.

Scenic Trail Rides (Ages 8 and older)

Trail rides are closed November-April.

Step away from the hustle and bustle of the busy day and reduce the noise on one of Ironwood's scenic trail rides! Enjoy nature, flowers and wildlife on horseback near the banks of the Root River. Ironwood Springs has horses suited for every level of rider.

Availability: See calendar below for available rides and to book your tickets.
  • Scheduled one hour trail rides are offered Saturday and a few weekdays during the trail riding season.  You can check the calendar below for available times and to book a ride.
  • All rides must be scheduled in advance via online or call the barn if you want to schedule a trail ride for a group (minimum number of riders is required).
  • Trail rides are limited to 12 people at most at one time.  You can schedule as little as 1 person to ride but if there are less than 4 people signed up for any trail ride time, we reserve the right to ask you to reschedule. If you are unable to reschedule, we will refund your trail ride fee
  • Weather may dictate changes in the schedule. If rides are cancelled (by Ironwood) due to inclement weather or trail conditions, riders will be given a refund or opportunity to reschedule.  If ride is not cancelled by Ironwood, then riders are expected to use their reserved spot.  Limited exceptions may be given by the trail ride staff by contacting the arena at 507-533-9933.  
An electronic waiver has been added to the trail ride registration process to provide a paperless process.  When you receive the confirmation email, click on the provided link to fill out waivers for each rider (adults and youth).  These should be completed before you arrive.  
Cost: 
$50 per person for an hour ride. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled ride and respect others by following our directional signage.

  • Riders will witness a short riding demonstration (required for all riders) prior to the trail ride
  • Riders arriving late to their scheduled ride forfeit their ride and payments

  • Helmets are available and required for riders under 18 years of age

Riding Lessons

Build your horsemanship ability through riding lessons with our skilled equine staff at Ironwood Springs. We offer western riding lessons for youth and adults. Lessons can accommodate beginner through advanced riders. Lessons also cover grooming and tacking, proper tack fit, groundwork, riding skills, and more. Help design your lesson to reach your riding goals by contacting our equine team today. Group lessons also available. Each lesson is one hour in length.
Cost:
  • $60 - Individual private lesson
  • $40 per person - Group lesson (2+ people)
