Therapeutic Horseback RidingIronwood Springs will be offering therapeutic horseback riding through a NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicap Association) certified instructor. This program is designed for people with physical, mental, emotional, behavioral, and learning disabilities. Dates and Times of SessionsTherapeutic Horseback Riding will be offered in September 2009 and October 2009. Because our program is new, we will be offering therapeutic riding sessions based on the availability of the participants and volunteers. We ask that participants give us a few days of the week and times that work in their schedule...Ironwood will then find volunteers with the same availability to assist in the sessions. CostIndividual Sessions (4 sessions) $140.00Group Sessions (4 sessions) $120.00**Ironwood Therapeutic Riding Instructor may require participant to be in Individual Sessions**Length of SessionsParticipants and families should allow for 1 hour sessions. The riding time of each session will be about 30 minutes long. The riding time may be reduced in order to adequately fit the needs of the participant (ex-if participant is too sore to ride for 30 minutes). Group riding sessions will allow for more time before and after the session for mounting and dismounting. Prearranged time for grooming the horses will be available. Time to discuss goals for next session will be included as well.OrientationAn orientation prior to the start of the first session is required for both participants and volunteers.
